Frustrated with Mold? Get Your Mold Question Answered By MBL’s Mold Experts for Free!

Molds can grow in virtually any home if moisture is available. Indoor molds thrive by breaking down organic matter such as fabrics, leather, wallpaper and wood thus damaging our homes or belongings. Molds come in a variety of colors including white, brown, green and black. They reproduce by developing microscopic seed-like structures called spores. Spores are not visible to the naked eye, and are easily carried through the air. When people breath in these spores they may react depending on their level of sensitivity to mold. If the spores land on a moist surface with an adequate food source, they germinate and form new mold growth.

When a homeowner discovers that they have mold in their homes they ask themselves many questions. Trying to find answers to these questions from online can be frustrating because there are so many self-proclaimed “mold experts”.

Some of the common questions we receive from homeowners include:

  • How did the mold get into my house?
  • Am I affected by the mold and what are the long term effects?
  • How can I clean the mold in my home or business?
  • Are my clothes, furniture and other belongings still safe to use?
  • I have mold in my apartment and my landlord won’t address the situation. What can I do?

If you see visible mold or you suspect you have mold in your home, please don’t panic. Use the form below to ask any mold question.

Who will answer your questions?

Your questions will be answered by Dr. Jackson Kung’u. Dr. Jackson Kung’u is a Microbiologist who has specialized in the field of mycology (the study of molds and yeasts).
