Dr. Jackson Kung’u, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. Dr. Kung’u is the Director and Principal Microbiologist at MBL. Jackson graduated from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK with a Masters degree in Fungal Technology and a Ph.D in Microbiology. He has published several research papers in international scientific journals. He is a member of the Mycological Society of America (MSA) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). Over the last four years, Jackson has been directing an indoor mould training course which has been recognized by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (CRBOH), the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC), the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI) and the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO). Dr. Aala Ali, B.Sc., M.Phil., Ph.D Dr. Aala Ali is the Laboratory Manager at MBL. Aala has an M. Phil degree in Environmental Health from Civil Engineering Department, University of Strathclyde, UK. Also, she holds a Ph.D degree from the University of Guelph, Canada. Dr. Ali was a university and college professor, where she taught a variety of Microbiology, Environmental, and Biology courses and successfully completed more than 15 research projects. She has previously directed multiple research studies on quality assessment, monitoring and protection of drinking water. Aala has developed extensive research experience in different aspects of microbiology especially bacterial pathogens and indicators. She was directly involved in field and laboratory studies on the fate and inactivation of some pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella enteritidis, Listeria spp., Enterococcus spp., and fecal coliforms in various water resources and agricultural solid waste. She has published more than ten research articles in peer-reviewed journals on water and wastewater, microbial corrosion and bacterial preservation. Dr. Georget Shamoon, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D Dr. Georget Shammon is a Senior Microbiologist in charge of bacteriology laboratory at MBL. Georget has over twenty years of extensive experience in identification of aerobic, anaerobic and various fastidious pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria from various environments. Georget has worked as an assistant Professor at the University of Mosul in Iraq for over 10 years. Georget is a member of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists. Yordanka Gonzalez Guardiola, B.Sc., M.Sc. Yordanka Gonzalez Guardiola is a Senior Microbiologist in charge of Mould and Yeast laboratory and also in charge of Quality Control/Quality Assurance. Yordanka graduated with a B.Sc. and a Masters degree in Plant Pathology from the University of Havana. Yordanka has over seven years experience as a Microbiologist and has worked in projects related to Aerobiology and Epidemiology of fungi as well as identification of fungi. Yordanka conducted a 2 years study in air quality in museums where she characterised indoor fungi using morphological and biochemical tests. She has analysed samples from diverse environments and matrices from across Canada. Ms. Kamila Doon Ms. Kamila Doon is the Business Development Representative at MBL. Kamila is trained as an Environmental Science Technician and has over five years experience in the environmental laboratory industry. Kamila has experience and knowledge of industrial processes, waste management, drinking water, surface and ground water technology. Her responsibilities at MBL include initiating and maintaining business relationships with clients, supporting the development of new services based on client needs and assisting with the marketing initiatives of existing MBL laboratory services.
